On Friday, March 14, 2025, a ceremonial signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) took place at the LPP TVRI Bali office in Denpasar. The event marked a significant milestone in the collaboration between the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and four prominent national societies in the field of higher education and technology in Indonesia: the Indonesian Electrical Engineering Higher Education Forum (FORTEI), the Association of Higher Education in Informatics and Computers (APTIKOM), the Indonesian Society of Applied Science (ISAS), and the Indonesian Society of Electrical and Electronics Engineers – the Institution of Engineers Indonesia (BKE PII). The ceremonial session took place at 11:15 WITA and lasted approximately one hour, marking a significant milestone in fostering collaboration between the IEEE Indonesia Section and key national professional societies in Indonesia. The MoUs were formally signed by Dr. Kurnianingsih, Chair of the IEEE Indonesia Section, and witnessed by Prof. Takako Hashimoto, Director of IEEE Region 10 (Asia-Pacific). Also participating in the signing were the respective leaders of the partner organizations: Prof. Arief Udhiarto, Chairman of FORTEI; Prof. Dr. Achmad Benny Mutiara Q.N., Chairman of APTIKOM; Prof. Dr. Adrianus Amheka, Chairman of ISAS; and Dr. Denny Setiawan, Vice Chairman of BKE-PII. The ceremony was further honored by the presence of distinguished IEEE leaders, including Prof. Kathleen Kramer, 2025 IEEE President & CEO; Prof. Lance Fung, Past Director of IEEE Region 10; Prof. Gamantyo Hendrantoro, 2025 IEEE South-East Asia Council Vice Chair; and Dr. Agnes Irwanti, 2025 IEEE Region 10 Professional Activities Committee Chair.

The MoUs reaffirm the mutual commitment to enhancing cooperation in technical, educational, and humanitarian domains. This collaborative effort reflects the shared commitment of IEEE and its national partners to advance engineering education, research, and professional development throughout Indonesia and the broader Asia-Pacific region. All MoUs had previously been reviewed and approved by the IEEE Legal and Compliance Department and each respective National Society in Indonesia on February 25, 2025. Key areas of collaboration include co-hosting scientific conferences, seminars, and workshops; joint publication initiatives; development of humanitarian technology programs; membership development and technical skill enrichment; and participation in global standardization efforts. While non-legally binding, these MoUs serve as a formal framework for advancing shared objectives. Each MoU is effective for two years—from March 14, 2025, to March 13, 2027—and may be extended upon mutual agreement. All agreements had been previously reviewed and approved by both the IEEE Legal and Compliance Department and the corresponding national organizations as of February 25, 2025.

The signing ceremony was officially documented by the TVRI Bali crew and followed by the exchange of commemorative tokens as a gesture of appreciation to the partnering institutions. The event concluded with a group photo session to capture this significant moment. Overall, the MoU signing ceremony marks a new chapter in fostering strategic partnerships between IEEE and Indonesia’s higher education and professional organizations. The collaboration is expected to yield impactful initiatives, both in enhancing the quality of human resources in the field of technology and in supporting sustainable development through science- and engineering-driven approaches.
