The webinar titled How to Write a Proposal for the IEEE Tech4Good Program was successfully conducted as an online event organized by the IEEE Indonesia Section through the Humanitarian and Community Service Committee. The event aimed to provide participants with comprehensive guidance on preparing high-quality proposals for the IEEE Tech4Good program, which offers funding support of up to USD 10,000 for impactful humanitarian projects.
The event commenced with opening remarks delivered by Dr. Kurnianingsih, Chair of IEEE Indonesia Section. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to address societal challenges and encouraged participants to actively engage in humanitarian initiatives through IEEE programs. She highlighted that Tech4Good serves as a strategic platform for members to contribute meaningful solutions that create real impact in communities.
Following the opening remarks, a special speech was delivered by Prof. Takako Hashimoto, IEEE Region 10 Director-Elect. In her address, she underscored the significance of global collaboration within IEEE and encouraged participants, especially students and young professionals, to take initiative in developing projects that align with humanitarian values. She also emphasized the importance of innovation, sustainability, and cross-border collaboration in creating solutions that can benefit wider communities. Her speech provided motivation and a broader international perspective on how IEEE programs, including Tech4Good, play a vital role in addressing global challenges.

The main session was delivered by Dr. Indra Riyanto from the IEEE Indonesia Section Humanitarian and Community Service Committee as the keynote speaker. He provided a detailed explanation of the IEEE Tech4Good program, including its objectives, funding scheme, and evaluation criteria. He guided participants through the essential components of a strong proposal, starting from problem identification, defining clear objectives, designing feasible and impactful solutions, to presenting measurable outcomes. He also emphasized the importance of aligning proposals with real community needs and ensuring that the proposed solutions are sustainable and scalable.
Furthermore, Dr. Indra Riyanto shared practical insights into proposal writing techniques, such as structuring the proposal clearly, maintaining coherence between sections, and highlighting the expected impact of the project. He also provided tips on common mistakes to avoid and strategies to increase the likelihood of proposal acceptance.
The session was moderated by Prof. Ratna Ika Putri, who facilitated the discussion effectively and ensured smooth interaction throughout the webinar. During the question-and-answer session, participants actively engaged by asking questions related to proposal preparation, funding requirements, evaluation standards, and implementation strategies. This interactive segment allowed participants to gain deeper understanding and practical clarification regarding the Tech4Good proposal process.
